A dairy farm as far back as The Civil War, Fox Run Vineyards traded its milk for grapes and converted to a winery in 1990. Overlooking one of the deepest parts of Seneca Lake, perched high atop the picturesque Torrey Ridge, Fox Run produces a remarkable range of fine wines across 55 acres of vineyards. Dynamic, forward-looking owner Scott Osborn is a strong advocate of wine (and garlic) in a healthy lifestyle.

Nothing Short of Sublime: The Fox Run Garlic Festival demonstrates how pairing good wine with well-prepared, flavorful garlic brings health, friends, and family to our growing community. Fox Run also favors the color “green.” In adhering to a low impact agricultural philosophy to protect the diverse ecosystem on our land and the pristine Seneca Lake, Fox Fun uses sustainable practices in both vineyard and cellar.

Ingenuity also calls Fox Run Vineyards home. French-American hybrids that are bred for cold resistance have an important niche in our Finger Lakes Region. Though, in producing whites such as Riesling, Reserve Riesling, Chardonnay, Reserve Chardonnay, reds including Lemberger, Pinot Noir, and Meritage, and specialties such as a Blanc de Blancs sparkler and wood-aged fortified Tawny and Port, Osborn is convinced that non-hybrid European Vinifera grapes yield excellent wine polished enough to put Finger Lakes Wineries among the world’s top. The progressive approach of vineyard manager John Kaiser and Fox Run is also visible in the trellises that support our vines, a system new to Fox Run that yields excellent results amongst wine gods: Germany, France, and Australia.

“When not to apply technology,” is part of the Wine Philosophy developed by Fox Run, and summarized by winemaker Peter Bell. The New Minimal Intervention: Fox Run masters this approach by filtering wines as little as possible to coax–not force–the true character of each grape into every glass. Supporting Children, Cancer Research, Local Community, and more: In addition to supporting the growth of the Finger Lakes wineries and sustainable wine practices, Fox Run Vineyards also partakes in charitable giving. We invite you into your vineyards and our winemaking family, and hope each sip finds you a world-class experience in the very backyard of our Finger Lakes home.
